Grønn Hverdag and Dialogforum for new economy organize an open seminar on the need for a new economy, an economy that is ecologically sustainable, socially just and genuinely democratic. Systems analyst, activist and former forex broker Ross Jackson is the keynote speaker at the seminar. He has attracted attention with the book Occupy World Street. A Global Roadmap for Radical Economic and Political Reform. Through introductions, dialogue and theme groups, the seminar will shed light on the mechanisms that characterize today’s economic system and the consequences it has for people and nature. How can we create a different economy with well-being for people and nature? An important theme will be Ross Jackson’s proposal that small states like Norway take the lead and establish global Gaia institutions. Through democratic management of capital, such institutions will enable global cooperation for ecological sustainability and social justice, sovereign nation states and vibrant local communities.
